Imperial Car Rental is now Europcar. New name, new global reach, same South African personal touch.
One of South Africa’s best loved home-grown brands, Imperial Car Rental, has undergone the largest and most exciting transformation in its 30 year existence. It has rebranded itself as Europcar, which has accelerated their move from being a national player to a global player. The change happened days after The World Travel Awards voted Europcar Best Car Hire Company in Africa for the fourth consecutive year. Europcar South Africa remains 100% owned by Imperial Holdings and a continued sponsor of the Proudly South African initiative.
Europcar South Africa operates a fleet peaking at over 16 000 vehicles in over 120 locations across five Southern African countries namely South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Lesotho and Swaziland. Their vehicles cover a vast spectrum in respect of size, variety and features and customers are assured of the highest quality due to their SABS ISO9001 (2002) accreditation. Their customers have instant rental access to a global fleet of over 220 000 vehicles at over 3000 locations in over 160 countries.
Customers have access to the same services portfolio as always, with the addition of a new carbon emission offset programme, where credits purchased go into a verifiable and certifiable project, called Impact Choice. Europcar also remains a proud sponsor and founding member of the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund. They donate a percentage of revenue earned from each international visitor's rental towards the fund.
